I know that I haven't posted but I've been working on a piece for everyone that has to do with the State of the Union. Bush said some pretty interesting things that he's not going to be able to back up without fucking up the rest of the country. I hope to have that done soon, promise!!

A few brief notes about the weekend. Saturday was a wonderful day. Got to spend time with three of my favorite people, Bob, Mike and Todd. Sunday morning bowling sucked to high hell and I'm not kidding! Sunday night, everyone was over for the Super Bowl (NOW THAT CONTEST WAS RIGGED!!!) and we all had a pretty good time.

Dinner this week is at Chas's house, which means he *has* to get it somewhat ready! :)

For those following the story on the idiot nominee Jerry Thacker, check out the article.

Wonderful dinner last night at Joe's house. Only a few ice patches hit along the way, but definitely worth it! Looks like next week's dinner will be at Chas's new house, YIPPEE! :) I just hope that Bob and Steve can make it this time. Of course, the only problem with doing it on Thursday nights, is that I'm missing one of the most important shows of my dreams, CSI. I know, that's what they make VCR's for. Now I just have to remember to set the stupid thing!

Finally got a long, long, long awaited email out to one of my bestest of friends, Tracy. I miss her and Jeff so much sometimes it hurts. I just can't wait for them to be able to come up here to visit. Hehehe........must introduce them to "The Gang of Virginia"! :)

As if we needed any more proof that Mike is a little off his rocker, check out this post.

But will he listen? I have to wonder. I would hope that this man would be smart enough, or at least have aides smart enough, to realize that he is going to end up being seen as the bully that he is and ruin his chances for even a shot at the next election. Of course, he's pretty much done that already, but I'm sure his "peeps" don't see that yet.

SNOW DAY AGAIN!!!!!!!!

I really, really do feel sorry for my friends that have to work today. Really :>.

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!

Wednesday, January 22, 2003

I know I haven't been here for a few days. Eat me. I have a life, ya know! The weekend was pretty good. Didn't do a whole lot, but it was a nice break from work. Bowling on Sunday was better than last week, so I can't complain too too much. Spent the majority of Monday stripping paint from the cabinet doors in the kitchen. They are a mess, with at least 10 layers of frickin' paint on them. I wasn't happy to find that the doors are not what we thought they were and we'll end up painting them. Now if only I can pick a color that won't upset the hubby too much.

This is the only thing they could come up with to discredit the man? Makes the press look desperate for news.

Friday, January 17, 2003

SNOW DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, got that out of my system. Still had to get up fucking early, but that's fine. Just gives me more time to just sit around and veg. Of course, I'm sure I could find something constructive to do with my time, but that would defeat the purpose of a snow day, now wouldn't it?!?

Dinner last night was great. Mike did a wonderful job with the meatloaf and Joe brought a desert that was fabulous! We had a good time, speculating on the impending storm and generally picking on Goddamn Thomas. We turned the utility room into the smoking room, which worked out okay. It was just too damn cold to go outside! :) I don't know if I am smoking less or not, but it sure does feel like it. The bitchyness has risen a few levels...so beware! :)

Thursday, January 16, 2003

And for those who need to know: There will be no more smoking in the house. I had an interesting doctor's appointment yesterday and not only do I have to quit smoking (duh), I have to lose weight in order to get pregnant (AHA Michael!). And probably much to Bob's dismay, we got the Tae-Bo DVD yesterday. He's in for a world of hurt! :))

Chas, I will be calling you later, but you know you are always welcome to dinner at our house! I just hope that Michael got everything he needed! :)

This will be an interesting case to follow. Of course, most of the cases the Supreme Court hears are interesting. And deserve our attention. These are the people who try to interpret what the Framers meant when they wrote the Constitution. And any decision they make has a profound affect on us all.

As if having that idiot for a man in charge wasn't bad enough, Mr. Bush is spreading his idiocy into our everyday language.

Actually, I need to make note that most BBC shows are pretty damn good. I don't watch any of the soap operas, but the rest of their shows are witty and refreshing. Of course, they can get away with more than American shows. One of my favs is Keeping up Appearances. But Are You Being Served and Waiting for God are wonderful. And I won't go into all the helpful little programs, like Ground Force! :)

For the record, Ronnie: Graham Norton rocks. I love his show!

Wednesday, January 15, 2003

Okay. Maybe?

Well, had Mike and Bob over for dinner last night. We had a good time, even if Michael ended up talking on the phone for a while. Of course, tomorrow night, he's being forced to make his "famous" meatloaf. Whether he likes it or not! :) And maybe this time Goddamn Thomas will grace us with his presence.

Tuesday, January 14, 2003

As if I didn't love this man enough already: "No committees, no critics, just people who like watching TV. What an award to win." == WILLIAM PETERSEN, star of People's Choice Award-winner "Crime Scene Investigation."

Which also begs the question, why didn't more of the stars show up? I understand the prestige of the Oscars, but this is the second best award to get. It means that real people like your work. Even Jennifer Aniston showed up with a broken toe (know how that feels!). What's your excuse Mel and Julia?

On a better note, I am keeping up on our budget and sex resolution! :) Not that you really needed to know that but I felt compelled to share. Note to self: Remember to invite M&T to dinner tonight. Gods know I don't want Michael bitchin' about it again.

Well, it's another day and I'm still not feeling all that great. For those who don't know, I didn't go to work yesterday because I was not a well woman and today is not looking much better. But I'll be wheeling myself to work anyway (don't want to use up too much sick time!).

I'm a little mad at myself, because I am not keeping up with a couple of my new year resolutions. I have not gotten any better with my emailing. I will hopefully have the time today to correct that, but we'll see what happens. I really owe a couple of people some rather lengthy emails and a few letters. Especially since we didn't send out xmas cards this year. (My mother was really thrilled about that one.)

Monday, January 13, 2003

One of my wonderful friends, Chas, has started his own blog (see left). He's a great guy and most definitely the sweetest. He has bought his first home and it is so cute (and not a problem on smoking outside Chas!). It has great potential and I can't wait to see it when he gets all his stuff unpacked! :) The hubby helped him move on Saturday [I was injured (broke toe) and couldn't really do much] and it didn't take long to get it done. Ended up at Uncle Louie's for lunch, which was great. Also got to meet Chas' sister, who was finally introduced to "the group" and she is very nice.

Thought for the day: Where there's a whip, there's a way.

Friday, January 10, 2003

Unlike others, I do not have Marines to look at all day long. I'm stuck in an office full of women. And there just isn't that much to describe. However, working downtown does have it's advantages. It's near Bob's doctor's office and he stopped by yesterday afternoon. (He's fine. Well, except for turning into his mother.) Then we ended up having a wonderful dinner and semi-helping taking the rest of the tree down. Yes, it has taken this long to get the damn tree down from xmas.

Some people just need to shut the hell up! :)

Wednesday, January 08, 2003

Well, my next class looks like it's going to be very interesting. I'm going to be taking World Religious Traditions I. Originally, I thought it would talk about all of them, but this course is only focusing on the Eastern Traditions. Hinduism, Buddism, Taoism, and Confucianism. I'm looking forward to this!

Bob came over for dinner last night and we watched "Auntie Mame" (with Rosiland Russell, of course!). That has to be one of my all time favorite movies. And the person who originally turned me on to this movie? My former gay husband, SB. He's also turned me on to some other fabulous movies, including Torch Song Trilogy, which desperately needs replacing. Dinner was fairly good, considering I'm not big on cheese on my meat. It was "Tater Tot Casserole", which reminded me of hamburger helper, only better. The hubby seemed insulted by this comment. I wonder why? :)

Monday, January 06, 2003

Another day, another dollar. It's Monday yet again. I really hate Mondays. But, life must go on, regardless of what I think. Let's just hope that today goes by quickly. Thankfully, I have no clients coming in and I can work in relative peace. I hope.

The weekend was okay. I wasn't planning on doing much of anything on Saturday, but got a call from Dawn, who desperately needed help in getting her waterbed drained and taken apart. So I ended up helping her for most of the day. Sunday, however, was the start of the new bowling season. Our team has a different line up, since Goddamn Thomas decided to take this season off. We now have a teammate named Rob, who is an okay bowler, and deaf. But at least he can read lips, so that makes communicating easier. However, our other teammate (who will start next week) is also deaf and only signs. Yeah, I need to brush up on my sign language again! She's really nice though, and is patient. Still, we'll be bringing a pad of paper and pen each week just so there is no misunderstandings! :) But we started off with taking 4 points, and that was with one of the other teams bowler having 2 200 games! Actually, it was a good week for a 200 game. In fact, there are several bowlers who are starting the season off with over 200 averages! I feel for them. Next week is not going to be pretty for them. I only hope that we bowl one of those teams. :)

Saturday, January 04, 2003

Well, I did it. I dropped off my cover letter and resume yesterday for the job in Hampton. I figure there really is no harm, no foul. If I get it, I get it. If I don't, I don't. It's just one of those situations where, I'm really comfortable where I am, and I really do enjoy the office that I work in. But I'm never going to get anywhere from there (not that I really want to be a social worker for the rest of my life) and I really do want to move up a bit. Of course, if I don't get the position, I'll be just as happy. No stress over a new office, and what not. And life is always better with no stress.

And I have started to work on my new year resolutions. Worked up a budget for us for the month, and we're going to try to stick to it. If all goes as planned, there will be at least one bill paid off before the end of the year. We'll see about the other one! :) And we got our water bill for the month of December. I figured it would be higher, due to the increase baking and other things, but it was only a dollar more. I love paying the water bill! :)) If only the electric company were so cheap!

And you're probably wondering why the hell I'm up so damn early on a frickin' Saturday. The hubby had to leave for work at about 5am, and of course, woke me before he left. And a disturbing dream finalized the decision to just get the hell out of bed. So here I am. And now, moving on to more pressing details, like surfing the net! :)

I really love this section of the news. They have the most amusing articles.

Friday, January 03, 2003

I found this article extremely interesting. I would hate to see us going to war with N. Korea all over again, but does the United States have the right to dictate to another country what they can or cannot do? Think about it, we have told them to do something, and if they don't do it, we're threatening them with military force. Can anyone say now that this country has *not* turned into the biggest bully on the block?

In the "Only in America" file, we have this little tidbit for you today.

Thursday, January 02, 2003

Only Michael. Check out the end of this post. You know he just had to do it.

Happy New Year! Time flies, doesn't it? Any resolutions this year? I have a few that I will make mention of here for prosperity sake. And to give myself more motivation to actually fulfill them! Here we go:

1. Lose some weight (no numbers, why limit myself?).
2. Get pregnant (what a pity, must have more sex in the new year!).
3. Raise my bowling average (this will be harder than you think).
4. Pay off at least two bills (gotta get rid of some of our credit cards!).
5. Make more money, to pay off said bills.
6. Start Christmas and birthday shopping early!
7. Keep up better with my email (I've been getting horrid at that lately!).
8. Keep up my straight A average in school.
9. Get better organized and stay that way!
10. Be a better person than I was last year.
