Jukebox

Did get the cd done for the drag show on Friday. And yes, it is going to be rigged and no, I won't tell you the songs. That said, I think that at least two people doing it will be happy with what I picked. Possibly four people.

The longest song: Mike
The shortest song: Rick

Wow...

Going to bed early is bad. Woke up this morning at approximately 2:45am and stayed up. Drank a pot of frickin' coffee and now I'm wired.

Sorry Mike.

Dinner Tomorrow

Finally made a decision – mystery meat it is!! Actually, we’re having meatloaf (actual ingredients to be determined tonight) and a mushroom casserole – something new. There will be a few biscuits for those who want them; I just want them out of the fridge!

And it looks as though there will only be 7 of us at dinner this week. Steve is supposed to work, since he has Friday night off, and if he doesn’t work, it’s because he’s sick and will be spending the night in bed – having chicken soup and sleeping. He’s on his way to Sick Call right now, which is saying something since he really has to feel like shit and nothing that we’ve gotten at the drug store is working, for him to go there. I’ll let you know what’s up when I know. (Personally, I think he may have strep throat.)

The Tupperware party has been postponed to March 13th at 7pm, so mark your calendars please. Yes, this is supposed to be my gaming night, but I want to get this out of the way and now none of you have an excuse to *not* come since you were coming to my house anyway! :) No, you don’t need to buy a thing, I don’t really care about it, and I’m only doing this for Tony.

This leaves Saturday free for me – thank the gods – so I’ll have plenty of time to recoup from the weeks activities and prepare for the Oscar party. For those who would like to bring something, please go right ahead. I’m probably going to have something going in the crock pot and there will be plenty to drink. Munchies are optional, though I do have a wonderful new chip and dip set that I’d love to use. :)

@#$*#&$%^@

Translate the above to the best of your ability. This is the mood I'm in today. Last night, while I got one song that I wanted for the Jukebox cd downloaded - and found two songs that I already had on my computer that would work really well too - I longed for Cox Cable Internet service. I loathe Cox - for reasons that I have posted here a few times - but my connection was so slow last night, I couldn't get the one song that I really, REALLY wanted to have. {No, I won't say which one, in case I can get it still.} Part of the problem is that I don't have the splitter that used to be on the line - I need a new one and will hopefully get that tonight. I really hope that the other problem is *not* the computer itself. It shouldn't be - its not that old - but you never know. Otherwise, those performing will be at the mercy of my personal cd collection.

And if that ends up being the case? May whatever God you believe in have mercy on you...

For the Spoil Sports

The Jukebox CD that Tom was nice enough to make will now be trashed - due to your inability to *not* look at the cd, even though it was wrapped up, albeit not taped. The whole purpose of the Jukebox Drag is for the songs to be a surprise.

Now, I have yet another thing to do this week and you can bet your ass that the songs I put on the new cd won't be as much fun.

My Week Ahead

Yeah, this is going to be a busy week. Tonight and tomorrow night, I'll be cleaning the house and working on the new website. I also have to shop for dinner on Thursday, yet I have no idea what all is going to be cooked...except that it will involve some sort of meat...perhaps mystery meat. If one of the fuzzy ones is missing, you'll know what it is.

Friday night is the show...which I'm looking forward to...in more ways than one. Saturday is supposed to be the Tupperware party, but this is most likely going to be postponed to another date. Then Sunday is bowling and the Oscar party - fuck, need to shop for that as well.

Anyone have spare time that they can donate?

New SASSI website

I have now officially paid for the new SASSI website - which will hopefully be up and fully running by Thursday afternoon. Right now, there's nothing there, so I'll post the link when it's up.

Oscar, Oscar!

Don't forget about the Oscar contest for next Sunday! Now that the SAG's have been given out - and a very surprising win by Johnny Depp - it's time to make your selections! Make sure you get your ballot in by Saturday at midnight! And while I know that not all the movies up for Best Picture have been released on DVD, the winner will get them as soon as they're released.

Jeffy - I'm waiting for your entry! :)

Lottery

Here's hoping that one of us wins the Mega Million Jackpot! And this I promise to those of you who I call my friends: None of us will *ever* have to work again if we don't want to.

Well, unless you blow everything that I give you.

Then you're fucked.

And not in a nice way.

:)

Dinner

Last night's dinner was pretty good. The roast Mike made was excellent! The spagetti squash wasn't bad and that's saying something considering I hate - no loathe - squash in any form. Tom did a good job in cooking it - considering he's not the 'domestic' type when it comes to cooking.

On the way home last night, I swung by the Farm of Freshness and picked up a few items, including the low carb ice cream by Breyers. I had a little bit of the chocolate last night and it's really not that bad. I would prefer the Edy's Chocolate Cake ice cream, but I'll take what I can get! Also picked up some low carb milk and some cream cheese to make a low carb cheese cake for dinner next week. Should be interesting. Not sure if I have the energy or motivation to do the almond crust or not - we'll see.

On another note, why do men think more with their 'lower brain' than their 'upper brain?' Someone - do I really need to say who? - decided that they'd let their lower brain do the thinking and woke me up at 2am. Needless to say, I was very, very cranky, especially considering that my alarm goes off at 4:30am. Men are pigs.

Oh Yeah!

Must play the lottery tonight - 215 MILLION

Even with the one time payout, would be enough for all of us to enjoy a life of luxury - if we so choose! :)

Much better...

This mornings ride into work was so much better. Granted, the construction is still making things back up a bit, but it took only 4 minutes to get through the gate - and that's with sitting through a complete cycle of the light at the corner.

Last night, whilst waiting for the hubby to come home, I positioned myself in front of the computer, playing 'The Sims.' I started a game of 'The Sims' some time ago, but had to erase the game {actually, the entire program} due to issues with a download of a skin that I had gotten. Yes, I have recreated everyone {Jeff and Tracy got married last night} just have yet to get everyone moved in. Did anyone want to pick their career? Or just let me pick it for them? Currently, Steve is in the medical profession, Chas is on the political career track, and that's it. I couldn't decide what career I wanted for Jeff {Tracy will eventually be a journalist, unless she states she'd rather have something different} but I was thinking musician or criminal. :)

Your choices? If I'm remembering correctly, here's the list: Criminal, Musician, Entertainment, Journalism, Medical, Extreme Daredevil, Athlete, Law Enforcement, Politics, and I think one other - can't remember them all at the moment.

FUCKING LIVID

This morning, it took me 25 - COUNT IT NOW - 20 FUCKING 5 MINUTES just to get from the end of my street to the gate - where I sat and waited for another 10 minutes to get through. For those of you who have been to my house and know where the gate is, you can appreciate my anger. THEN! It took another 20 minutes after getting through the gate to get to Gilbert St., which is barely a mile from the gate. I left the house today at 6:20am. Got to work? At 7:20am. ONE. FUCKING. HOUR. Why? Besides more ship movement - who aren't leaving until after noon - there is contruction on the main street going from the gate into the base. And the moron(s) who run this base didn't consider the problems that this makes for half the people who work here. The commander of the base - who lives in a nice, cushy house {paid for by your tax dollars} on the base - doesn't give a shit, because he doesn't have to contend with it. I say, move his house off the base and MAKE him deal with it. I bet then the problem would disappear.

FUCKING. LIVID.

Weekend Update

Not a whole hell to report really. Saturday's gaming was fun - right Necrophilia, um, I mean Narcoleptic? Am looking forward to the next session - with more fun around the corner guys, promise. Well, and death, but I'll try to be a little nicer this time. Sunday found me finishing Harry Potter 4 for Steve. He was thrilled and we've started 5 already. Yesterday was probably the best day - shopping! Picked up a few things we did and didn't need - including a new table for the kitchen that I love and a new litter box for the girls (dome shaped with stairs). The table's a little tall for - well, you know what - but it fits perfectly; just coming up to the bottom of the window sill. It is going to make preparing things in the kitchen a little easier and provided some much needed storage space. Now if I can just get the rest of the kitchen organized, I'd be really happy.

This needed to be shared:

The Good Wife's Guide

1. Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready, on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospect of a good meal (especially his favorite) is part of the warm welcome needed.

2. Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.

3. Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.

4. Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives.

5. Gather up schoolbooks, toys, paper, etc. and then run a dust cloth over the tables.

6. Over the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering for his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.

7. Prepare the children. Take a few minutes to wash the children's hands and faces (if they are small), comb their hair and, if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part. Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet.

8. Be happy to see him.

9. Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.

10. Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first - remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.

11. Make the evening his. Never complain if he comes home late or goes out to dinner, or other places of entertainment without you. Instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure and his very real need to be at home and relax.

12. Your goal: Try to make sure your home is a place of peace, order and tranquility where your husband can renew himself in body and spirit.

13. Don't greet him with complaints and problems.

14. Don't complain if he's late home for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through that day.

15. Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or have him lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.

16. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.

17. Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.

18. A good wife always knows her place.

taken from Housekeeping Monthly, 13 May 1955

Now, reread the above, substituting 'he, him, his, husband' with 'Master' and 'wife' with 'slave' and you almost have the perfect Master/slave contract.

Grrrr

I hate it when the military is stupid. It's inconvenient to everyone. Heading to work today, I go through Gate 4 - which has three lanes and all three are open in the morning because of the heavy traffic. This morning, however, traffic was heavier than usual due to the USS Wasp and company leaving. So what do they do? Have one of the lanes closed because they were too stupid to shovel the snow away from it before the morning rush.

Duh.

Dinner

The dinner last night was really, really good. The ham was *excellent* and must remember the tip about the Dr. Pepper. The "mashed potatoes" were...interesting. They didn't taste that bad at all, but I don't know if I'd want to eat a whole lot of them or all the time. I miss the real thing.

Tracy will appreciate this and wish she was there. Got to play "Barbie" last night. At Tony's, who has some of the most fabulous dresses, we went through his closet and had Steve trying on almost all the dresses. And I have to say, he did look really good in a couple of them! I'm sorry I didn't take pictures. And he does have some great legs. Now I can't wait to see them in panty hose. {Wait, just had a couple of really sick thoughts run through my head...and he wouldn't appreciate them!} Too bad the tits weren't real. >:}

Catholics please take notice:

< begin sarcasm>

It's time to give it up. Now there is a NUN accused of molestation. Where is this all going to end? Apparently, child molesters have a safe haven within the Catholic Dieses. Well, I'm glad that they are protecting the rights of some people. Heaven forbid they clean out their closests and get rid of these people. Oh, but wait! Then there would be no one left to give the Vatican all that money.

Oh, and all you Catholics out there? You are *all* going to your own personal hell when you die - leaving the glory of the after life to all us heathens. That's what you get for being so judgmental and self-righteous. (Sorry Todd - not meant for you.)

< /end sarcasm>

Um, okay?

Last night, I got a very interesting phone call from Nate. A little background here: Nate is an old friend from Hawaii, who is the one who got me interested in Paganism and the like, and loves, and I mean *LOVES* to brag about things he's bought to impress people. When he called last night, he told me he had gotten himself a 45. Of course, the first words out of my mouth are "WHY??" He is married to the dumbest blonde I know and bred two children (who are still VERY young). Needless to say, I think he understood how *not* impressed I was with this and if I were there in person, probably would have smacked him. Then he quickly moves on to the fact that he paid over $600 for a puppy recently, some kind I've never even heard of, to which I tell him that we got a puppy this past Xmas. There in ends the conversation. He had nothing else to brag about, so he decides to ring off.

I need to remember that for next time. :)

Our cell phones will be inoperable until sometime on Saturday. Call the house directly if you need us.

Last night...

Whilst sitting in my office chair, going blind from staring at my computer monitor, I wrote. I find that writing out all my problems, conflicts, and emotions let's me take a more in-depth look at what is going on in my head.

And there was more there than I thought. Old insecurities have risen from their dusty grave; old fears have found a new stronghold. Old habits are lurking in the corners, waiting for their return to the foreground. And I don’t know why.

While thinking about these old insecurities, fears, and habits, I found myself wishing there was a way to simply erase them all. Like an etch-a-sketch; shake your head and there gone. But knowing that life never works that way (unless you add alcohol – and even then it doesn’t always work), I thought why can’t I really, if I try hard enough; deleting them from the program of my mind and moving on.

But it’s never that easy, is it?

No matter how hard you try to let these things go, they are always with you. And is letting some insecurities go a good thing? Does it not put you back in a position to be hurt again and have that insecurity re-installed? But holding on to those insecurities keeps you in a stalemate. There is no way to move forward and if you aren’t careful, you could find yourself slipping backwards.

And as hard as I tried last night, they refused to disappear. I think they just like giving me ulcers.

SASSI website

Last evening, I did what I said I'd do and checked on available domain names for the tourney website, in the event that we cannot get ahold of SR to update our current one or give us the information to do it ourselves. I sent the list to Barry, so we'll see what happens. I've also been working on the site - redesigning a bit {ok, a lot!} and getting it ready in any event. I looked on SR's personal/professional website, and it looks as though he hasn't updated that since last year!

Any input that you'd like to make would be appreciated!

Weekend Update

Friday night: No more drinkies for me. Well, okay, one drink will be okay, but no more after that! We didn't stay there as long as last week, but got into a much deeper discussion than I cared to. And that bitch made me cry. We can't have that again.

Saturday: This ended up being a perfectly wonderful day. Took Vivie to Sams for her beauty products and such, picked up one or two items as well, and then had a carb-overloaded lunch at Rally's. After we dropped off Viv and packages, the hubby and I went home and packed a small overnight bag and headed out for our night away.

Here is where I really need to say something that does not need to be shared with the hubby - you hear me?? Being with him Saturday night only made me fall in love with him all over again.

It was a perfectly delightful romantic evening, complete with him opening the car door for me - even yelling at me when I tried to open the door myself when we got to the restaurant. We talked over dinner about things we don't normally get to talk about at home. We held hands and kissed over dessert. And headed back to the hotel after dinner. (This is where the details stop.) In the morning, I was served coffee in bed and we were able to cuddle for over an hour while waiting for the time to come that we had to checkout. The both of us decided that we really want to do this again - perhaps on a bi-monthly basis. It was just so nice not to have to worry about the girls, being anywhere at any certain time or place, picking anyone up, dropping anyone off, etc.

Steve tried to complain about not getting to spend time alone - which I replied of course that it must be a shame that we have a lot of friends that want to spend time with us, etc. I knew what he meant, and he knew what I meant. So we're going to try to have at least one night a month for just the two of us. I don't think it'll be that hard - with the exception of course of his work schedule. We'll see what happens.

Sunday: Brunch as usual - even with the Atkin's breakfast. Then on to bowling, which wasn't great, but with two out of three games over my average - I won't complain. Still lost all seven points, due in part to CJ not having the best of days. It's sad when *I* have a higher game than he does. While I was bowling, Steve and Tony were hitting the stores per usual. They picked up a single sheet of drywall so we can finish that one frickin' spot, and a small sheet of Plexiglas for the game this Saturday - though I am unsure as to whether or not we'll need it.

Sunday night was fairly lazy for the most part. Gave Bailey a bath and her dip. After an hour, it was bed time for her and for us. Though, we stayed up for a while, me reading to him from Harry Potter. Yes Vivie, we're almost done with book 4. Then we can talk openly about it. Last night left him at the end of Chapter 32 - "Lord Voldemort has risen." - the last line in the chapter. Needless to say, he was mad as hell when I told him we were stopping right there until we had time to finish the rest of the book. Hopefully we'll be able to do that before the end of the week. Or it might be his turn for the aneurysm. :)

Oh yeah!

The weigh in last night. Let's just say that I really like Chas' scale better than my own. Because there is either a) something seriously fucked up with it or b) I lost a whole lot of weight in just one week. I'm thinking it's a.

And our sum total, including the two who are not participating? Let's just say that we're all definitely two tons of fun. :)

Interesting

Seems as though I've visited 40 states thus far. Please note the obvious state that I have avoided going to - W. Virginia. Probably will never get there either - unless absolutely necessary.

Insulting that they didn't list Scotland - which I visited very, very briefly on my way to Greece some years ago. Didn't realize they weren't a country.

Now, I'm fucking pissed...

Billy P. "The Continuance King" got what he wanted and the new trial date is April 20th. What pisses me off more than this, is the fact that I didn't even need to go to the court house at all - this was settled before today. No call from the anyone at the Planning Council - who KNEW about this continuance - and the jackass, mother fucker at the District Attorney's office didn't do his job and update the recording last night when he was supposed to (I talked with the prosecutor and she stated that she gave the idiot the info to put on the recording.)

I want a fucking drink. NOW.

I'm sending a bill - bet they won't pay...

This morning, I'll be heading off to the Chesapeake court house. No, I'm not the one in any trouble - this all stems from my job at the Planning Council and a fraud case that just can't get settled. But now that I no longer work there, I won't get paid to go. And I just know - KNOW - that Ms. Lynch (her name is a matter of public record, as are the charges) will get yet another continuance. If that happens, I’m sending a bill to the Chesapeake Social Service office and the DA for my time lost - not that they'll pay it.

The original date of this was last SEPTEMBER and she’s gotten two continuances since. I can’t afford to keep trotting down there each time, sitting there for two hours, twiddling my thumbs. When I spoke to the prosecuting attorney last week, she stated that Billy P. (her attorney) was trying to get another continuance and would probably get it before today - so I wasn't supposed to worry about being there today. Right. When I called last night - they have a recording that will tell people who doesn't need to show up - what I got was "For Friday, Feb. 6th, for the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, there are no new updates at this time." Fuck.

What I really hope happens, is that she *won't* get a continuance, I can do my thing, and they can find her guilty and ship her off to jail for a while - which is exactly where she's headed if she is found guilty due to past convictions (which is also why she couldn't just plead out on the case.)

I'll let you know what happens.

I got Johnny Depp first, but prefer this one! :)

Viggo
Viggo Mortensen~ Ah yes. You go for the dark
european type. Nice choice. You want a man with
power and who can take control of any
situation. You also want a man with money who
has big plans for his life. Hmmm, domination
anyone?

It's just sad...

Vivie got to my house last night before I got home from work - I needed to stop at the store for her cigs and some groceries - and I get a phone call. She's unable to open the crate that Bailey is in. She's sitting in front of the crate, looking at the poor, helpless puppy, and can't figure out how to open it. Even after explaining it quickly, I had to hang up (still at the store and trying to pay) and told her I'd call her back. About a few minutes later, I call the house. Poor Bailey is still in the crate and Vivie is still sitting there - staring at her.

Yes, I finally talked her through it. And yes, Vivie had an "excuse" for her inability to operate a simple mechanism - which doesn't quite fly. Sorry Viv.

***Warning, tearful post***

Last Saturday was my father’s 63rd birthday. While at Tony & Darrell’s house, I picked up my cell phone and gave him a call. Normally when I call home, Dad answers the phone and I talk to him for a little bit, then he turns the phone over to my Mom. But that night, Mom had already gone to bed, so I ended up talking to Dad the entire time. And I could tell from the way he was talking that he really misses just talking to me about stuff.

(A brief history on my childhood here: From about the age of 6 to age 13, I don’t remember my father much. When my brothers were at that age, he had plenty of time for them – so I pretty much felt neglected. Yeah, he was around, but he was always working at his business. After the age of 13, I pretty much hated him, because now that the business was doing well, he could spend more time at home. And try to be a father to me. I wasn’t having it then and did everything in my power to stay away from him. It wasn’t until I really grew up – about age 26 or 27 – that I apologized to him for being such a bitch to him and my mother when I was a teenager and that I understood why he was never around for me. He was just trying to give my mother and us a better life and had to work hard at making his business run.)

Now, back to the phone call. At one point in the conversation, he said he missed seeing me and then went on to apologize to me for not spending any time with me when I was younger. He realizes that he missed so much of my growing up. And he really regrets it today, when he has the time to spend with me and can’t. Yes, this made me cry, especially since this is really the first time that he’s ever apologized to me for anything. And it also made me feel horrible that I don’t get to see him (or my mother) as much anymore. The last time was almost a year ago at Sharon’s wedding.

And I realize that he’s really regretting things now because he is getting older and his health is not good. If he lasts another 5 years, I’ll be surprised. What makes things even worse for me is that I know that we haven’t seen Steve’s parents for at least 3 years. Of course, getting to California is a bit more difficult – and goodness knows they won’t come out here because we have no grandchild (this is another bitter story) for them to visit.

So what’s a daddy’s girl to do? Besides cry herself to sleep that is.

Yeah, I can agree with that...

Another Day at the ROK

It's days like these that I really wish I had more to do. Things are slow right now, so I'm having to find ways to amuse myself. This is always dangerous. I've been working on my D&D game, but there is only so much I can do with that here. I've also been working on my novella, which is done for the most part. Just adding a little more here and there where it seems appropriate. And no, no one reading this will probably ever read it. Well, maybe Tracy, but not the rest of you. (Ya'll wouldn't really want to anyway, trust me.)

I am looking forward to this Thursday's dinner. Well, not the weighing in part, but everything else. I started the whole "diet" thing today, instead of yesterday, because there was still some left over chocolate cake that I didn't have the heart to throw out. :D

Weekend Update

Such a boring weekend really. Saturday, Darrell and Tony were nice enough to come over and help with putting up the rest of the drywall in the office. We were short one 4x4 piece - piss me the fuck off - so that's where that ended. Thankfully, Home Depot gives broken drywall away, so Steve will be heading there everyday until we can get what we need. I am *not* buying more drywall for that small an area! As soon as we can get that little piece in, we can mud, tape, and sand all of it. Then it will be on to the floor, which will be another headache in and of itself. Saturday night, we headed over to Darrell and Tony's house for a "Taste of Tupperware" party, which was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be.

Sunday was brunch and bowling per usual. Thankfully, this weeks bowling went a lot better than last week - so I hope that I get paired up with Chas for the mini-tourney after his great bowling day. Ah, yes, then the Super Bowl. Hehehehe....

WE WON!

Now I'm just waiting for my new t-shirt! :) The game was pretty good, though neither team played very up to their usual standards. Thank the makers that Patriots Adam Vinatieri made that last minute field goal. If he hadn't, he would have gotten beaten to death when he stepped off the plane in Boston. We've a pretty violent fan base in New England. :) And loyal to the core.

Now if only the Red Socks would do...something.
